Are the Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton Reuniting?
Cam Newton is meeting with the team that drafted him 10 years ago. A reunion seems like a real possibility. The report comes from Jonathan Alexander of the Charlotte Observer.
Newton played nine seasons for the Carolina Panthers, leading the team to Super Bowl 50. He spent last season and the majority of this year's preseason in New England.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport notes that the former MVP is now vaccinated, meaning he could join the team immediately if a deal is signed.
The Panthers are 4-5 this season and one place back of the final NFC wild card spot. Carolina traded for quarterback Sam Darnold in April, but the 24-year-old has struggled as of late.
Carolina heads to Arizona to face the Cardinals on Sunday, before going against Ron Rivera and the Washington Football Team next weekend. Rivera was the Panthers head coach from 2011-2019.
