NFL Names Best AFC & NFC Players of Week Nine

AFC
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert won the honor on the offensive side of the ball, leading his team to a 27-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Herbert finished the game completing 84.2 percent of his passes for 356 yards, and 2 passing touchdowns. The 23-year-old also rushed for a score. The Chargers are now in first place in the AFC West at 5-3.
Josh Allen of the Jacksonville Jaguars won defensive player of the week following a tremendous performance against the Buffalo Bills. Allen recorded 8 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, a sack, and an interception. He also recovered a fumble in the Jags' second win of the season.
On special teams, Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend takes the crown. The second-year player booted 6 punts with an average of 56.8 yards. with a long of 64 yards. The Chiefs beat the Green Bay Packers who were without starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
NFC
Matt Ryan earned himself the NFC's offensive player of the week following a 27-25 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Ryan completed 23-of-30 passes for 343 yards and 2 touchdowns. The win brings the Falcons to 4-4 on the season. They currently sit in the final NFC wild-card spot.
New York Giants' safety, Xavier McKinney was the top player on defense in week 9. The Giants' defense held the Raiders to only 16 points. McKinney made 7 tackles, and 2 interceptions including a 41-yard pick-six.
Finally, on special teams, Vikings rookie Kene Nwangwu made a name for himself in a 34-31 overtime loss to Baltimore. Nwangwu had a 98-yard kick return touchdown to start the second half, as well as a fake punt conversion.
